To celebrate Earth Day 2014, I've put together a quick list of green beauty brands to check out. I've listed some of my favorites from each brand along with any Earth Day promotions or coupons.
1. Josie Maran Cosmetics
Created by model Josie Maran in 2007, this beauty brand is all about Argan oil. The eco chic brand infuses all products with 100% pure Argan oil. I love the Josie Maran Argan oil for my skin and hair. Get 22% off of your order today with the code EARTH22.
2. Burt's Bees
I just love Burt's Bees. That yellow packaging is recognizable anywhere. Burt's Bees is a beauty brand that takes being green very seriously, they list the exact percentage of natural ingredients on each product. The Peach & Willow Bark Deep Pore Scrub is a staple in my skincare routine.
3. Giovanni Cosmetics
Giovanni Cosmetics is a family owned company and is a pioneer of the "natural" haircare movement. Giovanni products consist of carefully selected ingredients in recyclable packaging and are cruelty free. My favorite hair care products are almost all from Giovanni. I'm a huge fan of the Chinese Wellness System shampoo and conditioner, the NutraFix hair reconstructor and the Direct Leave In Weightless Moisture Conditioner.
Tarte is one of my favorite beauty brands. Created by Maureen Kelly in 1999, this cruelty free, vegan friendly brand uses ingredients such as amazonian clay and maracuja oil instead of icky things like mineral oil and synthetic fragrances. High performance naturals, indeed! I have MANY favorites from Tarte but a few stand outs are the Amazonian Clay tinted moisturizer, the Amazonian Clay 12 hour blushes and the Glamazon Pure Performance lipsticks.
EcoTools is proof that you don't have to spend a fortune on beauty tools. This brand is best known for their awesome, eco friendly brushes but did you know that they also make lashes and hair brushes? The brand stays earth conscious by making annual contributions to charities that benefit beauty and the environment through their Living Beautifully Project. I have many EcoTools brushes and I absolutely love them. Enjoy 25% off today with the code EARTHDAY14.
Zoya was founded in 1986 by husband and wife team, Zoya and Michael Reyzis. Zoya, a classical pianist turned licensed cosmetologist wanted to focus on natural nails using quality, healthy ingredients. Michael, a chemist, created unique products such as toxin free, natural nail polish and the first fast drying topcoat. Products that would revolutionize the nail industry. Zoya has the largest shade range I have ever seen. Their polish formula is of great quality and is always easy to work with. Zoya has relaunched their Earth Day Nail Polish Exchange for 2014. From 4/21/14 until 4/28/14, exchange your old nail color for Zoya nail polish for either $4.50 for regular shades or $5 for Pixie Dust shades. Use the code ZDAY2014. Check the Zoya website for details.
7. Whipped Body Goods
Whipped Body Goods is a line of all natural, vegan, hand-made and locally produced bath, body and home goods. Created by Lauren Wiley in 2012, Whipped Body Goods offers everything from body butter, natural deodorants, clean burning candles and incense in the yummiest of scents while being free of chemicals and synthetic ingredients. I have tried a few things from Whipped Body Goods but my must haves are the Cupcake Bikini Scrub, Cupcake Bikini Butter and the After Shave butter. These three products should part of every woman's body care routine. I know I will definitely continue to repurchase. Use code BLOSSOM for 20% off on whippedgoods.com.
8. Alima Pure
Kate O'Brien created Alima Pure in 2004, while searching for safe cosmetics for her daughter use. Disappointed in what she was finding, she began researching mineral cosmetics and hand crafting batches of makeup. Today, Alima Pure has grown into a premier beauty brand that is sold all over the world. This is a brand that believes in pure ingredients and giving back by supporting various eco and pet friendly organizations. Stand outs from Alima Pure are the Luminous Shimmer eye shadow, Satin Matte foundation and Luminous Shimmer blush.
9. Yes To Carrots
Another favorite of mine, Yes To Carrots is an awesome natural brand that has different collections that target specific skin care concerns. The Yes To Carrots Collection is nourishing for dry skin. Yes To Cucumbers is gentle and hypoallergenic for sensitive skin types. Yes To Tomatoes is for combination and acne prone skin. Yes To Blueberries is for the treatment of fine lines and age damaged skin. Yes To Grapefruit is to correct and repair uneven skintone. I have been using the Yes To Cucumber facial wipes for a long time and I love them. I have also tried the Yes To Carrots Mint lip butter and it's awesome as well. Today, Yes To Carrots is offering 40% off sitewide for Earth Day, no code necessary.
SheaMoisture is a family company that has been organic and eco friendly since 1912. SheaMoisture offers numerous hair, skin and bath and body products that have been crafted from recipes handed down through four generations. SheaMoisture's mission is to create products with certified natural and organic ingredients and give back by supporting charitable organizations. I don't even know where to begin with my favorites from SheaMoisture. This is a brand that is very dear to my heart. The Yucca & Baobab Anti Breakage Masque is fantastic. The Olive & Green Tea bath collection is just amazing, the scent is heavenly. I've also tried and enjoyed the Olive & Marula and Raw Shea, Chamomile & Argan baby collections. Recently, SheaMoisture has launched a cosmetics line that I am just dying to try. Check your local Target, Walgreen's, CVS or Ulta for deals on SheaMoisture products.
